Metabolic Calcium Maintenance

The recommendation of calcium are based on an average adult weight of 150 pounds. Please note the following chart is for general nutrient management and in no way reflects or can be used for determining dosages for therapeutic trials. To calculate dose for those over the age of six, use the following chart:

              Pills/day                                           Weight in Pounds

First calculate the total number of pills you take each day for each separate supplement. For instance, if the recommendation is to take two pills three times per day, the total will be 6 pills. Place a straight edge beneath the "6" in the left hand column. Read across until you find a column with your approximate weight. The number above the straight edge is quantity of pills per day suited to your particular weight. In the example above, if you weighed 120 pounds, following the chart, you will find the number 5. Divide the number by 3 to give 8 hour dosing. Whenever the number is odd, or has a remainder, apply the remainder early in the morning, then at night. Don’t forget that vitamins are taken between meals. The correct dosage in this case would be two at breakfast, one at lunch and two for supper. If the weight was 180 pounds, the dosage would be three at breakfast, two at lunch and two at supper. For those children under 6, consult the doctor.
